An acupuncturist will diagnose your condition by conducting a thorough examination. This is based on medical history, pulse and tongue diagnosis.

The treatments can be composed of many elements, including; moxabusion (heat), cupping (suction), auricular therapy (ear acupuncture), electrical or laser stimulation, or manual manipulation of the points.

Acupuncture needles are hair thin needles that are inserted into “points” on your body. The needles stimulate and regulate the flow of Qi (Chi), the vital life energy within and around you.

This system of health care is based on the principle that to be healthy, your body needs the proper supply of blood, and the oxygen and nutrients that the blood carries. Over 2,000 specific points have been mapped out where a block in blood flow can occur. A method of diagnosing which points to treat to increase the blood flow allows the trained acupuncturist to get results with all types of health problems.

The best analogy to explain acupuncture would be to compare it to a planr that was deprived of water.

Without water, a plant would wither and slowly die.

If you tried to water that plant with a hose that had a kink or blockage that prevented water form getting through, then the plant would die. Remove the blockage or kink in the hose and give the plant water, and it will recover. You probably have seen this yourself if you have household plants.

Acupuncture finds where the blockage is in your bodythat is stopping life-giving blood and oxygen from flowing to your cells, organs or tissues.

Acupuncture needles are painless, they are so thin, it is like inserting another strand of hair into your body.

Acupuncture is used to balance the flow of life energy in the body, and during this process, it has been documented, that as wellness increases, the emotions are also brought into a healthy balance. Many complaints have been linked to emotional disorder, ranging from insomnia, panic attacks, overeating and addictions. Using acupuncture to restore the flow of chi is a gentle, non-invasive therapy, which can have profound impact on emotional health.

If you are a weekend warrior or a professional athlete, do you sometimes push your body to the extreme? In honing your skills, to become more proficient, do you sometimes overreach the comfort zone? Injury may occur as we push beyond our limits, We may overdo it, and over time create problems now and in the future.

In today’s hectic lifestyle, we often don’t allow adequate time to heal completely. We use painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications to dull the aches, pains and reduce inflammation. It’s a quick and easy approach, but only a temporary fix.

By covering up pain, stiffness, swelling or aches, you may be masking a deeper problem. These are the signals from your body, telling you that something is weakened, out of balance, or blocked, and needs to be taken care of. These warning signals are telling you to stop, rest and heal.

Acupuncture, along with other adjunct therapies such as therapeutic herbs and massage can provide a competitive edge in your athletic performance by reducing inflammation, and increasing joint mobility. This ancient and effective form of health care can help create a more agile you.

The treatment of infertility with acupuncture and Chinese medicine dates back 2000 years. These ancient time-tested techniques improve fertility rates and support a woman’s whole body, unlocking unlimited potential for health, healing and childbearing.

A landmark study published in the medical journal Fertility & Sterility found that acupuncture dramatically improves the chances of becoming pregnant when used in conjunction with other assisted reproductive techniques. Researchers from Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York reviewed studies, and concluded that acupuncture helps to:

increase blood flow to the uterus, which improves the chances of an ovum implanting on the uterine wall

reduce anxiety, stress, and the hormones that are secreted during stressful situations that can significantly decrease fertility.

normalize hormone and endocrine systems that regulate ovulation, especailly in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

positively affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis which plays a key role in fertility

regulate menstrual cycle

Acupuncture has also been shown to positively affect pregnancy and birth. According to the World Health Organization, acupuncture has been found useful for relieving labor pain, nausea, vomiting and significantly reducing the duration of labor. There is also strong evidence that acupuncture can help with a breached birth
